Both the German and Italians arrived in Warsaw Tuesday evening and following a briefing meeting at the stationary fans embassy, they enjoyed a late meal together sharing good humoured banter about the upcoming semi-final clash at the National stadium.
Early Wednesday both team leaders met up with the fan embassy coordinators in the Sheraton hotel for the security meeting with UEFA official Fernand Messe, before setting up their mobile fans embassies in the old town of Warsaw.
After a day working , meeting fans , doing media interviews and giving out fan guides and information the mobile teams settled down for the Semifinal clash between the Portuguese and the Spanish. The Germans had a dinner arranged but the Italians decided to stay in the Stationary fans embassy to watch the game with the Polish fans.
One of the saddest parts of the tournament has been the lower than expected visitors to the host cities, many thousands did come of course and we believe that the vast majority will have happy memories of Poland and the Ukraine. An exception to the low number of visiting fans must be the Spanish and Irish who invaded Gdansk and the wonderful sight of over 20,000 Swedish fans in Donetsk.
So there we have it, just hours away now from the semifinal in Warsaw, the final game in the magnificent national stadium, yes we all remember the madness that surrounded the Poland v Russia game but this city and country should be proud of their stadiums, the welcome that the vast majority of fans received and most importantly their ability to host such a major tournament.
